Our Story
The Quilcene area and shellfishing are a lifelong draw for Rod, who spent his childhood combing the beaches and rivers of Hood Canal. His family often camped in this area, picking oysters or digging clams enjoying their bounty right there on the beach. When he was only 13 years old he took his first job digging clams for his Step-Father who farmed native Littleneck Clams in Discovery Bay.
In 2006, G & R Quality Seafoods was born. The company was started with a rowboat, a wheelbarrow and 15 acres of tide lands in Quilcene Bay. We have certainly grown since then and currently have 200 acres of tide land and employ 6 local families.
Rod and Karen feel strongly about the importance of family, community, education, sustainability, and responsible stewardship and actively participating in all of them together as much as possible. Please check back often to see the changes as we grow our company and update our website. Many exciting plans are just around the corner. Check out our vision page for a preview of some of them.
