Oyster Habitat
Pacific oysters in Quilcene bay grow in all parts of the tidal area. From 2 ft to 6 ft+ we have found natural set oysters. Pacific Oysters set on other oysters, rocks, gravel and even wood though their preference seems to be other oysters.
One oyster can filter up to 60 gallons of water a day so we do our best to break up the clusters and spread them out so they can get the food they need to survive. Responsible stewardship is very important to oyster survival. We work with the marine environment much like a land farmer removes weeds from their valued crop for better growth and production.
